Arundhati Ghosh’s book discussion on polyamory simulcasted in BIC* library

May 2, 2025 (Fri), 6:30 pm, BIC

Notes

A solo polyamorous anarchist.

It means, someone who is polyamorous but decides to live alone.

Are polyamorous people available for care-giving?

Aru says, single people are shamed as selfish. Single-shaming….but it is mostly single people who are most readily available for care giving.

The discussion is mostly about the subject, polyamory. And it’s not so much about the art of writing. I am yet to read Arundhati’s book All Our Loves. Aru discussed about the conversations she had with polyamorous people, that she decided not to include in the book. Such editing decisions were discussed.

It would have been nicer if more was discussed about the art of writing.

Mono to poly to universal… Oneness of everything… As mystics said. Said one of the commentators.

Aru says, “When you have only one person in life, you have all the time in the world, to go on fighting about unnecessary things. When you have many people in life, you cut the crap, and come to the point.”

Shared labour of love.

  • Parallel polyamory
  • Kitchen table polyamory
  • Garden style polyamory

*BIC is the Bangalore International Centre. The hall in which the talk is happening is full. That’s why it’s being simulcasted in the library.
