what was american culture before columbus?

Stephen Graham Jones, Earthdivers Vol 2: Ice Age, (IDW)

nominated for best writer at Eisner 2024.

One wonders if the pre-Columbian Americas had a “classical” literary culture.

The U.S. before Columbus invasion had indigenous cultures like Mississippian, Pueblos (Anasazi), Iroquois, Hopewell, Hohokam.

—

Stephen Graham Jones is not referring to any particular indigenous culture, the comic is a historical reimagination of having  Columbus killed before the Exploration of the American continents.
